You Don't Have To

“Ugh. I have to go to work tomorrow.”

The groan of someone who’s tired, or bored, or distracted.

You don’t really have to go to work tomorrow. You could just not show up. Too much of that and you’ll find yourself out of a job, but you don’t have to go. It’s a choice you make every day to show up at work.

You get to go to work tomorrow. It’s an attitude that can make all the difference.

Your job may or may not be glamorous or bring you great wealth. But if you’re going to be there anyway, why not approach it as an opportunity to be your best, to provide more than required, to make someone’s day. If you’re going to be there anyway, why not take pride in your efforts.

If you don’t appreciate the job you have, do what it takes to get a job that will be more fulfilling. But while you’re where you are, make the best of whatever situation you’re in.

Isn’t that what you’d want from your coworkers? Isn’t that what you’d expect from your employees?

You get to go to work tomorrow. Go make a difference.
