Special Note to Book Lovers

Packing is tougher if you love printed books like I do. They're beautiful but so heavy to move!

I've come to a point where I don't want to be (literally) weighed down by my "stuff" any longer. It's become more important to me than having a large collection of books. I've pared down my books to two bookshelves and four clear storage totes. I started out planning that I would swap out the books in the bookcase from time to time. But that never happened. I did want to refer to the stored books more often. But having to drag out the storage bins made that an unappealing prospect.

Then I got a tablet computer as a gift. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do, but this piece of technology has changed the way I read. I downloaded the books that would like to refer to, but didn't necessarily need a printed copy of. And I gave away the printed copies, freeing up the closet that had housed the storage totes. There are some books that are easier to read in hard copy. Some are beautifully bound. There's room in the two bookshelves for these.

Moving and storage got a whole lot easier for me!

There's more convenience of taking the tablet with me. When I'm on the job, I can use the computer for easy internet access. And if I have an unexpected wait, I always have a book to read to pass the time. My absolute favorite is to bring it with me when I travel. I'm forever trying to travel lighter, and the tablet lets me pack a variety of entertainment for only 10.4 ounces!

Now I have the best of both worlds, and I couldn't be happier about it!
